Of all the games I did at Rare I can honestly say this was the one I poured my heart into.I really enjoyed the first Viva Pinata and when I heard we were doing another one I couldn’t wait to get started. When I was thinking about what style of video games music I would use in the Desert and Ice areas I knew exactly what I wanted to do well before I actually started to compose.

I used the City of Prague Philharmonic orchestra again, and when it came to the recording sessions it was really quite emotional. By that time I knew I was going to be leaving Rare, which was a tough decision, but I hadn’t told anyone yet.

I remember the last piece the orchestra played was “Bedtime Story”.(I didn’t actually name any of the Pinata pieces, that was done after I’d left Rare by the Pinata designer Justin Cook). This piece is my all time favourite of all the music I wrote while at Rare and is very close to my heart. After they finished playing it I had to go out into the main recording area to thank the orchestra for playing so beautifully, I got up on to the conductors rostrum and tried to say a few words, but just burst into tears……… I’m a bit of an old softie really!
